Delftware Early 18th Century Chinoiserie Antique Table Lamp – Athalia
Meet Athalia! Part of our exciting collaboration with the renowned 5th generation Aronson Antiquairs of Amsterdam, Athalia is a one-of-a-kind lamp lovingly handcrafted from an authentic antique Delftware vase, circa 1705. We’ve paired it with a handmade custom contemporary lampshade made from a gorgeous Dupion silk in saffron.
The vase base is marked PK in blue for Pieter Gerritsz Kam, the owner of De Drie Posteleyne Astonne (The Three Porcelain Ash- Barrels) factory from 1700 to 1705, or for his widow Maria van der Kloot-Kam from 1705 to 1716.
Painted on the ovoid body are four large panels filled with landscape scenes of bamboo, rock work, flowering shrubbery, flitting insects and pseudo-Chinese characters, all between wide bands of scrolls and lotus flowers. The foot rim and shoulder have a border of leaf devices and the neck, a border of large flowerheads and scroll devices.
The brass top has been custom cut to the exact shape of the vase base and the lamp is also fitted with a new matching saffron cord. E27 bulb fitting. We can adapt the plug depending on the country you will use it in.
The lamp was made without harming or permanently altering the original vase in anyway.
